Mutton Renaissance
Launched in 2004 with a call from our Royal Patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to restore mutton to our menus, the Mutton Renaissance has become a fundamental part of the Academy’s agenda. Its aim was to re-establish mutton as an important niche market meat to ensure better prospects for the sheep industry. This was particularly significant in the wake of the 2001 Foot & Mouth disaster and remains relevant today. The Mutton Renaissance is run jointly by the ACA in and the National Sheep Association (NSA) and generously sponsored by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) and Hybu Cig Cymru / Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).
